Television Shows From The 90s

Below you will find a number TV shows that were popular back in the Nineties, many are available as DVD Sets or you can find them being repeated on specialist TV stations ( Terrestrial and Cable ) that feature popular old 1990s TV Classics. Great fun , while doing the research it bought back many fond memories of my childhood. I wonder how many others found themselves humming along with the theme music.

Ally McBeal

Ally McBeal American television comedy series with "Ally McBeal" played by Calista Flockhart as a young lawyer. The best way to describe is the comedy was designed to be slightly offbeat. Series ran from 1997 till 2002.

The X Files

The X Files TV Series working on the assumption that the government covered up multiple cases of extraterrestrial life, with Fox Mulder played by David Duchovny and Dana Scully played by Gillian Anderson trying to uncover and prove the existence of extraterrestrial life. Series ran from 1993 till 2002.

Friends

Friends TV American situation comedy based around the lives, loves and relationships of six friends Jennifer Aniston playing Rachel Green, Courteney Cox Arquette playing Monica Geller, Lisa Kudrow playing Phoebe Buffay, Matt LeBlanc playing Joey Tribbiani, Matthew Perry playing Chandler Bing and David Schwimmer playing Ross Geller. Series ran from 1994 till 2004.

Will and Grace

Will and Grace American TV sitcom about two friends living and sharing their lives and an apartment in New York City Will Truman is a gay lawyer played by Eric McCormack and Grace Adler played by Debra Messing . Series ran from 1998 till 2006.

Married with Children

Married with Children comedy based on the Bundy family with "Al Bundy" played by Ed O'Neill and his dysfunctional family living in a Chicago suburb. Series ran from 1987 - 1997.

That 70's Show

That 70's Show set in the seventies is a TV comedy sitcom about the seventies about the lives of teenagers Eric Forman played by Topher Grace, his girlfriend Donna Pinciotti played by Laura Prepon, the Foreman's lodgers Steven Hyde played by Danny Masterson, Michael Kelso played by Ashton Kutcher and Fez a foreign exchange student, The show is set in Point Place, Wisconsin . Series ran from 1998 till 2006.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was a TV sitcom featuring Will Smith as a kid from inner city West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who is sent to live with his wealthy aunt Vivian and uncle Philip Banks and cousins Carlton and Hilary in Bel Air, California. The comedy of the series is loosely based around the differences between a well educated Carlton and a street smart kid from the inner city who needs to adapt to a wealthy life style including the house having their own Butler. ( Series ran from 1990 to 1996.

MacGyver

MacGyver was an American TV series about the resourceful secret agent Angus MacGyver who always had his Swiss Army knife handy to combine with other ordinary everyday objects to get out of the tightest jams, played by Richard Dean Anderson, . . Series ran from 1985 - 1992.

Cheers was an American situation comedy television series based in the bar Cheers ( was actually called The Bull & Finch Pub ) in Boston, Stars on the series included Sam Malone played by Ted Danson, Diane Chambers played by Shelley Long and Kelsey Grammer played by Frasier Crane . Series ran from 1982 - 1993.

Growing Pains American Sitcom about a family who are forced to change lifestyles as the wife goes back to work, the husband works from home and the trials and tribulations of a boy growing up and coming to terms with who he is. The Golden Girls American TV Sitcom about 4 older women sharing a Miami, Florida home ( Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia ) who are best of friends but bicker constantly and argue over anything from men to shopping and because of the close environment and very differnet backgrounds have widely differing views. The series won 11 Emmy awards and four Golden Globe Awards and . Series ran from 1985 - 1992.
