This article was written in 2006 so we have used a top of the range HP PC personal computer to provide an idea of what is available today.
This shows how the personal computer is continuing to evolve becoming a one stop entertainment centre as well as the traditional PC.
Some of the functionality now available in a PC
Applications : Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Photo Enhancing ETC.
Games: Single user local or multi user based Internet games
TV: Watch Television including High Definition in a window on your computer
Video Recorder: Record TV programmes for play back at a later date
Music: Download music to play on MP3 players or on PC write music CD's
Video: Download TV programmes or film clips
Photography: Store, organise, improve, e-mail your digital photographs using Flash Memory Card Slots

Storage: Use USB ports to put information on small easy to use USB Flash Drives to share with others
Storage: Store all your important data on a CD or DVD
Internet: Connect to the Internet using Network Card, Modem, or Wireless connection
Internet: Talk or watch friends on web cam using Internet access
Telephone: A new generation of Voice over IP telephones are starting to appear which allows you to use traditional style telephones connection via the Internet
