The Munich Massacre occurred during the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, when members of the Israeli Olympic team were taken hostage by the Palestinian terrorist organization Black September.
The terrorist eventually murdered 11 Israeli athletes and one German police officer. The German rescue operation was considered by many as a fiasco as of the 11 hostages taken 2 were killed in their rooms and 9 were killed at the airport during the rescue operation . It is easy to condemn the German attempt but this was beyond any known previous terrorist activity.
The Munich massacre was one of the most significant terrorist attacks of recent times, and placed the Palestinian cause into the world spotlight.
Over the last 30 years the terrorist organisations around the world have become better organised and funded and now are a threat to civilised society throughout the world.
