We have made the decision to create archived pages of memories that have been posted for some time dedicated to each decade, this allows a visitor to peruse up to 40 memories associated with a decade in history and makes an interesting experience.

Memories By Decade

All these are memories that have been posted on "The People History" and are now closed for comments. You will find many memories from childhood going back as far as the 30's .

1930's

Includes memories from those who lived through the depression and includes some idea of how tough it was to grow up in the 30's. There are also a couple related to how the dust bowl affected ordinary people's lives.

1940's

Our 40's memories include memories from those who fought for their country and also from visitors who were just children giving an idea of how the war effected their lives.

1950's

There are many childhood memories from the 50's from the US and other parts of the world giving an idea of how many of the things children remembered have disappeared from today including the traditional milkman and other street venders. Also many have written about their first car or the ability for children to roam free without worrying about many of the problems of today.

1960's

Memories from the 60's give an idea of how music, dress and the era of putting a man on the moon, the battle for civil rights and what a great time to grow up.

1970's

The 70's continued on from the 60's with a new style of music and teenage clothes becoming wilder and often not practical ( Platform Shoes ) but great fun to wear and be noticed.

1980's

The 80's must be remembered as the dawn of the computer age with kids and adults discovering each new home computer and new computer games . Many of those who now control the digital age grew up in this era and managed to not only embrace the technology but also carved out world wide empires based on it. Bill Gates and Microsoft, Apple, Compaq, HP and the list goes on.

1990's

What the 80's did for computers the 90's did for the Internet with many of the companies we know and use in our everyday lives starting in back street garages or as an idea, Google, Ebay, Amazon etc. etc.

New Millennium Memories

These are memories from the last 8 years and includes a number of in memory memories for those who have lost a loved one and wish to pay tribute to their lives , as you can tell most are for family and friends but we have also included "In Loving Memory" for pets who may be missed

With ordinary people telling about an event or experience from their lives, the range includes memories that are funny, tragic, nostalgic. Many are childhood memories from the time we spend growing up, or those wild times as teenagers when we discover so much about ourselves and the life around us. The changes in the technology many have seen in just a short time trigger other memories, and often awe in our children who can not believe we did not have mobile phones or fancy computers, How did we survive?.

Visitors do not need to register or include their own name to leave their memories or a little part of their personal history.
