The Helm's Man Delivery 60s

Posted By
Cindy, United States, Fresh Baked Goods Delivery in the 60's

I remember the Helm's Man who would deliver fresh baked goods to our neighborhood in the morning. He would park his truck, which looked kind of like a hearse, and open the back doors offering the most delicious smells of donuts and breads imaginable. My mom would buy my brother and me a fresh glazed donut. In those days we could buy treats from the local peddlers as they came through our middle class neighborhood with ice cream or baked goods.

I also remember Helm's Man Delivery
as a child in the 60's. The best doughnuts ever! My sister, and I could,nt wait to hear the toot of the doughtnut truck, in which we run out the house, excited to purchase our favorite doughtnuts.
I love doughnuts, but there is nothing compare to Helm's doughnuts. Really was sadden when this business closed.

I remember him too! Shiny truck, the best doughnuts ever. Ours had a slide out tray with the most attractive display of candy ever. I can't recall the sound the truck made. A really nice memory.

I loved the Helms man! Every Sat. I would get my allowance -5c and I would buy a jelly doughnut. The yellow truck with the roll out tray... heaven! Does any one remember the square sign that you put in your window if you wanted him to stop at your house?
