My Weddin Night 1987

Myself and my wife got married on the 10th April 1987, we were married at St Wilfreds in cowplain. Its is coming upto our 20th anniversary and we want to have a disco to cellebrate.
This triggered my memory of our wedding night disco, we had our reception at Westbrook Hall Community Centre, Tempest Avenue, Cowplain.
That night was a night that has stayed with me through my life and will continue to do so, we arrived at our reception at 19:00, everyone was awaiting our arrival outside throwing rice and confetti still!!
When we got in the hall it was beautifully decorated with flowers and ribbons, everyone tucked into the food and awaited the bride and grooms first dance.
The song we had chosen was "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life" Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes
The dance was for 20:00 and everyone started to clear the dance floor the DJ we had was called Pete Cross he was an excelent DJ and was a close family freind.
Well we got up on the dance floor and pete congratulated us and announced our first dance, but to his horror and ammusment the wrong song had been lined up it was "It's Like That" Run-D.M.C.
We all burst out laughing and every one applauded the DJ, me and my wife went along with it we spun around on the floor and did various "funky" dance moves, everyone joined in and mark my best man started break danceing.
We then went on to have our first dance but it wasnt as ammusing as our real first dance.
When I was trying to find Pete Cross the DJ to do our anniversary disco it turned out he was still a dj in the area, i found him on a website called Disco Genie
When I contacted him I asked him if he still remembered our wedding, he started laughing and went on to sing "its like that and thats the way it is"
I have booked him for our anniversary and he was more than delighted that I request our first song be Run DMC.
When I look back that was the best night of my life and I am glad we had that mishap because it made the night even more memorable.
Me and my wife now have two children of our own and if Pete is still doing discos when they get married we will definetley choose him.
