Horses and Husbands

My wonderful husband has put up with my horse affliction for the 7 years we have been together very graciously however not always gracefully. My injuries as well as a few of his own. Last year I bought a new gelding and needed to hit the trails with him as soon as possible so I convinced Steve to be my riding partner for at least this one ride. You see I also have a little mare named Misty. She is truely a "husband's horse". Misty has the tendancy to lag behind, look up, and realize she's behind so she automatic trots to catch up. I thought the ride was going along just fine, however Steve had a different perspective. After that he swore off any sort of horse riding ever again as his "unmentionables" were sore for about a week. You see, I was so excited at the prospect of having him ride with me that I neglected to give him even the smallest of riding lessons like posting a trot which may have spared his "unmentionables" the pain. Needless to say, we were both out of luck for that week :)

Boy, can I relate. When I first met my husband to be he had never ridden a horse let alone actually stand next to one and all of a sudden he was in charge of 12 horses and to do trail rides. Good thing I was there. We have been together over 20 years now and are the owners of 5 horses (a 2 year old 2 9 year olds and 2 14 year olds). Just remind your husband as I used to to mine, those are not pillows so sit back on your but and hold on.
