My Mom's surgery and President Nixon

Posted By

I'll never forget the summer of 1973. It was when my Mom had surgery and also
it was when President Nixon resigned and I remember we cried for him, for what
he was going through. The biggest thing that I remember was that I was 12 and
it was the summer I learned to cook out of necessity because of my Mom's
hysterectomy and she could not do much all that summer. Even though she had
surgery, I remember it was a nice time, because my 2 sisters and I got to be
with our Mom more than we ever had before... I called my grandmother and told
her that I had cooked pork chops, potatoes, corn bread and corn cobs! (Instead
of saying corn on the cob)! My grandmother told that story about me so many
times... Good memories, good times...
