After deciding to visit Cairns and snorkling on The Great Barrier Reef, I had the chance to go fishing for marlin and we started off by catching some spanish mackerell for use as bait, they were bigger than anything I had caught before, we did not catch any marlin but did at least hook one which promptly got off , The great part was watching the groupers come up after we had docked to eat the mackeral whole , I was informed by the skipper they were protected and in excess of 1000 lbs in weight m if you ever have the opportunity you should go
